Brainstorming YOUR Collaborations and Joint Ventures #SocialCafe 7.17
#SocialCafe Chat Topic: Brainstorming YOUR Collaborations and Joint Ventures
View the announcement for this #SocialCafe Chat..
We are nearing the end of our series on collaboration, along with discussions of helpful tools, resources, strategies, and people! Before we wrap up this go 'round (next week), we are dedicating this chat to brainstorming
So, what is the point of brainstorming? The idea is that you allow your brain to run free and anything goes. So, while there are no rules to brainstorming, there is the rule of not criticizing each other's ideas (and not criticizing our own, either!). Brainstorming is not effective, as a strategy if we spend our time critically analyzing each idea as we go. So, let it rip. Let those ideas flow!
P.S. To the best of my knowledge, I have never removed a tweet from the transcript intentionally. This week, however, I did remove any that broke the rule of criticism, even if it was meant as constructive criticism. This week (and future chats with brainstorming) is about allowing the ideas to run free, not to restrict them! And, truly, I'd personally love to see that all the time, encouraging each other to share ideas and encouraging each other in general. That is the foundation of #SocialCafe and our desire to help each other ;)

Wrap-Up for Successful Collaborations #SocialCafe 7.18
- How would you define collaborations, with the idea of expanding beyond the norm?
We are learning new ways to define collaboration. Why? By brainstorming, it helps us to expand our ideas and strategies, reaching for the stars and new ideas and projects to help our business(es).
A1. Collaborating with relevant players in your industry is an easy way to expand your audience reach and give you new content! It’s a win-win for both parties. #SocialCafe— Dianna Albanese (@dialbanese) April 25, 2018
A1: Anytime we can come together and achieve something we couldn't do alone, that is a collaboration moment! #SocialCafe— Kathryn Lang (@Kathrynclang) April 25, 2018
- Along the lines of brainstorming and expanding, what are some other related phrases or definitions?
Continuing along the ideas of expanding, we start to list other terms that come to mind when thinking about collaboration.
We are starting to see the value in coming up with out-of-the-box ideas and then growing on those concepts, as we share with each other. (I’m already looking forward to our next brainstorming #SocialCafe chat!)
A2: I think of masterminds, coworking, write-ins when I think of collaboration #SocialCafe— Kathryn Lang (@Kathrynclang) April 25, 2018
I hadn't thought about it that way - but that's true. Because folks couldn't market to the wide range audiences without those affiliates (and they both benefit) #SocialCafe— Kathryn Lang (@Kathrynclang) April 25, 2018
- What are some ways that you can elaborate and expand your efforts when it comes to collaborations?
We are definitely getting creative and outside-the-box here! Even reading minds! Kathryn was thinking (tweeting) what I (Deborah) was thinking ;)
Are you reading my mind, Kathryn? Bingo! I love helping others and responding when asked, but I hesitate to ask. Good one! #SocialCafe— Deborah (@socialwebcafe) April 25, 2018
A3. Do some research on brands, blogs, influencers and individuals in your industry. Build Twitter lists to follow news and trends about relevant topics from those people. Chances are, they may be looking to collaborate, too! #SocialCafe— Dianna Albanese (@dialbanese) April 25, 2018
- What other groups of people can you add to those with whom you would collaborate? For example, what about clients?
So many wonderful ideas! I love how @KathrynCLang brings us back to that concept of helping others. Hey, that is what it is about here at #SocialCafe and I love how well Kathryn articulates that (so we don't have to -- just kidding) as well as Dianna and her brilliant observations about business! (Hint: Keep reading, we have some of Dianna's brilliant tweets coming up ... soon ;) )
A4 I would like to follow @staciewalker 's idea of adding clients. That also has that feeling of helping clients to expand their business.. win-win; help-help #SocialCafe— Deborah (@socialwebcafe) April 25, 2018
A4: I would like to position myself to help others with their focus and purpose . . . because it helps me with mine when I do #SocialCafe https://t.co/WZrmuuNb46— Kathryn Lang (@Kathrynclang) April 25, 2018
- What are some things you would like to learn, in order to enhance your collaboration efforts?
Dianna continues to amaze us with the observations about small business versus large business and where we could benefit from that comparison.
A5. The comparisons between working with large biz vs. small biz. Large biz obviously has the following, but small biz is at times more trustworthy to consumers and builds closer relationships. Hard to tell what will work better for you. #SocialCafe— Dianna Albanese (@dialbanese) April 25, 2018
A5: I think I need to learn how to better ask for the collaboration - creating a clear plan for asking. #SocialCafe https://t.co/2kZSmLmIzL— Kathryn Lang (@Kathrynclang) April 25, 2018
- What are some bucket list items that you would like to complete or attain, to help your collaboration efforts?
Fortunately, Kathryn's wish has come true! Even though we have only known each other for a short time and we are just becoming acquainted with each other's sill sets, Kathryn and I have decided to collaborate and apply what we are learning in this #SocialCafe Twitter Chat series! And, her wish is my command, having already compiled a membership website for our partnership and I am a videographer, having creating hundreds of videos online, including series. I was the one who put together the original video series for MyBlogGuest, which inspired the Viral Content Buzz eCourse and beyond. See - benefits of collaboration! (Oh, and more on the partnership in future #SocialCafe twitter chats ;) ).
A6: Creating a membership site for all the courses I have floating around my desk! #SocialCafe or teaming with a videographer to create a video series! https://t.co/PO5aLw5qSJ— Kathryn Lang (@Kathrynclang) April 25, 2018
A6 I would like to finish setting up my affiliate program, but more importantly, find ways to help others, providing free checklists, graphics, media, etc. #SocialCafe— Deborah (@socialwebcafe) April 25, 2018
- What are some resources or tools that you wish you had or you wish existed, in helping you with your collaboration efforts?
Here are some familiar tools and maybe some new tools added to your list during this series on collaboration. To see previous chats in this series, click on the Calendar link at the top of the page and scroll through to see our chats in the order they occur :)
A7 I love and mention @commun_it as a wonderful help aid in building and maintaining relationships on Twitter. Now, I'd like to utilize it more effectively, allowing for that true (versus automated) relationship building experience #collaboration #SocialCafe— Deborah (@socialwebcafe) April 25, 2018
A7: I think most of the tools I need are there - I just have to make use of them (or more likely make the choice to do what needs to be done). #SocialCafe https://t.co/MO5MweG0bo— Kathryn Lang (@Kathrynclang) April 25, 2018
- What will you be doing, or doing differently this week, to help in your collaboration efforts?
We are so excited about our chats about collaboration that we are already making plans on how we will implement these strategies, this upcoming week!
A8: This week I will invest some time to define what I want, what I have to bring to the table, and also to find who I can ask. #SocialCafe https://t.co/IvzxBTaYjy— Kathryn Lang (@Kathrynclang) April 25, 2018
A8 I would like to convert my desktop-based #Storify replacement tool into a standalone option that maybe others could use, possibly for free or a barter #collaboration (i.e. I create a free Storify Twitter Chat replacement in exchange for #SocialCafe promotion) .— Deborah (@socialwebcafe) April 25, 2018
